In my opinion, the best sure-fire money-making scheme ever (in a movie) was part of one of my favourites, Back to the Future, and that was to go forward in time, get the Sports Almanac and then go back in time to make some money betting.
Seriously, that is the most sure-fire way to do it.
Throughout my investing life, I have had many great sure-fire plans on how to make a fortune without having to work very hard:
- Buy precious stones. They never lose their value
- Gold is the answer (I am not sure what the question was, but Au is the answer)
- High Tech stocks never go down, they just keep going up, yes I fell for that one.
- Bre-X is being invested in by the Ontario Teachers’ Union so it must be a safe bet.
- That e-mail I just got from that Nigerian Prince will pay off soon, now how do I wire him $10,000?
- Financial Blogging does seem to be where the big money is.
- For those unsure yes this is sarcasm in its finest point.
So, instead of searching for shortcuts to get rich quickly, I decided to focus on building a sustainable and long-term investment strategy.
My epiphany on all these get-rich-quick schemes was realizing that if I figured out how to get rich without doing much, would I tell anyone else? Unfortunately, the answer is NO, I would not (unless it wouldn’t make a lot of money, then I might try to sell the idea for big money).
haha at the last one. You got a chuckle out of me.
I’m surprised you didn’t get wrapped up in any of those Amway or real estate scams. They have the whole get rich quick mentality behind them.
If you want to do well, get a good job with a defined benefit pension plan.
If you want to ‘get rich’, from what I’ve read, you need to get into small business. that’s what I’ve read, not what I’ve experienced :).
