Back in the good old days, Twitter only allowed you 144 characters, so to write something interesting was a challenge. Now you can write a book far too easy to write financial advice.
So my experiment with Twitter continues on, I have a slowly growing readership, but I keep wondering whether Twitter is useful information dissemination or even passing on points of view?
A couple of days ago I put out:
Funnily enough (not really), no response from anyone, which almost makes me want to see how far I can go before folks react.
You are all financial twits and wouldn’t be able to balance your cheque book with an accountant and a set of scales!
That might cause a furor, but then again, it most likely would simply be ignored. This one might cause a few responses:
A fool and their money are soon parted, and yes I am talking to you FOOL! #FoolMoney
No I shall not be doing this, but it does make me want to put out some kind of financial statement in twitter (in a single message), so I now offer all you budding Tweeters, so this is my offer:
- Leave a comment with your Tweet about finance (without links please) and it must be a single message (however you can leave more than 1 comment if you wish).
- If you have a Twitter handle leave it in the format @BigCajunMan
- I will compile a list of these tweets and next week I will post all (OK, I reserve the rights to not publish any I find too commercial or too crude (yeh, I worry about crude posts 🙂 )), but if you have left your Twitter handle I will give you credit as well.
Have at it, prove to me that Twitter can be used for something more than being a good place to leave useful messages like:
LeBron James is a poopy head
or
I have gone to the store to buy tampons, Woot! Woot!
Spend your money on what YOU want, rather than trying to impress someone else. @MMarquit
Nice touch, I like that.
Develop a strong work ethic first; a rigorous saving discipline second; and a hatred of irrational spending third. Marry someone like minded.
@RossTaylorMoney
Another strong one, with a lot of advice, wow!
“It’s Not about how much Money you make,it’s how you Save it” @Canadianbudgetb
Good one!
