Sunday Thoughts: The Serenity Prayer

Sometimes, money issues and problems seem entirely insurmountable for us. They are like giant rocks about to crush our very being but remember they are not, and if you are religious, remember the following prayer:

God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference. With this serenity I shall live one day at a time, enjoy one moment at a time, accept hardships as the pathway to peace, take, as Christ did, this imperfect world as it is and not as I would have it be, trusting that God will make all things right if I surrender to his will. So shall I be reasonably happy in this life and supremely happy with God in the next.

— Reinhold Niebuhr (d. 1971)

I’d like to see you try to be supremely happy in this life too. Get help if you feel you can’t control it or it is controlling you, but don’t let it beat you; you can beat it.

NB: Not to be confused with the Seinfeldian concept of SERENITY NOW!
